Thomas A. Nun – Owner

Thomas A. Nun founded Horizons Commercial Contracting in 2006 with the goal of providing security and opportunity for his son and himself. Built on hard work and integrity, the company started with sweat equity, navigating challenges like the 2008 recession while maintaining strong client relationships. Over the years, Horizons has evolved from a tenant improvement contractor to a full-service general contracting firm, expanding its capabilities to meet a diverse range of construction needs.

Tom’s leadership philosophy is simple: “Do what you say you’re going to do. No exceptions.” He believes in exceeding client expectations, fostering a strong team, and continuously adapting to industry advancements. As Horizons approaches its 20-year milestone, Tom remains focused on embracing new technologies, expanding into new markets, and ensuring the company’s continued growth with integrity and reliability.

Beyond work, Tom is passionate about family, outdoor adventures, and giving back to the community. He enjoys fishing, hiking, and spending quality time with loved ones. His leadership and dedication continue to drive Horizons’ success and growth.

Kyle Cariveau - Chief Operating Officer

Kyle Cariveau brings a lifetime of hands-on construction experience and a passion for building strong teams to his role as Chief Operating Officer at Horizons Commercial Contracting. Starting in the trades right out of high school, he worked his way up from superintendent to project manager before stepping into leadership roles focused on company growth and operational efficiency.

With expertise in team development, scheduling, and software integration, Kyle is committed to optimizing processes and expanding Horizons’ reach. His leadership is driven by a straightforward philosophy: “Hard work beats talent every time. Nothing is handed out in this world.”

Outside of work, Kyle enjoys spending time with his wife and five kids, supporting their various hobbies and activities. A lifelong sports fan, he also loves watching baseball games and looks forward to getting back on the ice to play hockey when time allows. As Horizons continues to grow, Kyle is focused on leveraging new technologies, streamlining operations, and maintaining the company’s reputation for excellence and integrity.

Carmen Gilliland – Project Manager

Carmen Gilliland joined Horizons Commercial Contracting as an Assistant Project Manager and quickly grew into her current role as Project Manager. With a strong background in problem-solving, multitasking, and organization, she ensures projects run efficiently and deliver quality results. Her ability to adapt, stay organized, and keep projects on track makes her an essential part of the team.

Carmen’s approach to project management is shaped by both professional experience and real-life skills—balancing complex tasks with precision and adaptability. She is committed to streamlining processes, supporting company growth, and delivering exceptional client outcomes.

Outside of work, Carmen enjoys spending time with her family and her dog, working out, reading, and tending to her plants. She values the flexibility of maintaining a strong work-life balance and appreciates the collaborative environment at Horizons. As the company continues to expand, she looks forward to embracing new systems, refining project execution, and contributing to its long-term success.

Meet Mark DesLauriers – Construction Manager

Experience & Role at Horizons
Mark DesLauriers brings a wealth of experience and dedication to Horizons Commercial Contracting. With a lifelong passion for building and a background influenced by his father’s engineering career, Mark has been an integral part of our team since joining in 2019. Known for his problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and hands-on approach, he plays a crucial role in ensuring project success.

Hobbies & Interests
Outside of work, Mark enjoys playing hockey, hiking, golfing, and working on home improvement projects. He also enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring new places, and staying active. His dedication to both his personal and professional life makes him a valued member of the Horizons team.
